Faith in God is No Dream Killer

Faith in God Means Big Dreams2Why do you think that faith in God means that you should not dream?

Is it good or even right for one who has faith in God to have dreams and dare to pursue them? It is an unhealthy trend that I have observed or perceived among some of my fellow Christians.

For some reason some believe that being passive and having no high aspirations is pious and that being open about your dreams and actively pursuing them id grievous sin. Then there are those who dream, pray for their dreams but do not take action to fulfill their dreams as they believe faith in God has a magical way of making that happen.

Is that really what the Bible teaches. Today I am going to show you that God wants us to depend on him as well as dream big and take massive action.

God has given us two ways in which to live and make a living.

1) Grace

This is the part of our lives in which we have absolutely no control over because it is God’s prerogative to decide what happens to us. We cannot fight with God’s decisions because he knows what is good for us. This is the part that causes paralysis in most Christian believers as they resign themselves to the fate that God will decide for them. Scripture does affirm to the all powerfulness, all knowing nature of God Isaiah 40:18,21-23; Isaiah 55:8,9. That is what makes Him God. Where would our power of choice fit into all this if God’s sovereignty ruled supreme in our lives? – Psalm 127:1,2

2) Self Effort

This is the part where we have to have dreams and aspirations and then must get off our butts and chase after our dreams. Much as God has the path of our destiny mapped out, He wants us to be willing participants in its fulfillment through our daily individual choices. In consultation with Him we must create our vision. In Proverbs 29:18 we are admonished to have a vision lest we perish. Once a vision has been cast, it takes action for it to be fulfilled. The following scriptures demonstrate that God hates idleness and laziness Proverbs 6:6-11, Proverbs 12:24, Proverbs 20:13. We are to work diligently and the only way of having work is if there are goals to be met and plans to be executed.

We must individually strike a balance in how we live under grace and self effort.

You Are Not A Victim of Circumstances or God’s Arbitrary Decisions

You are a creature of choices. That is a benefit of being human. Do not be a passive victim of your circumstances simply because, “God will see what to do with you.” Have dreams, aspire to reach them and do all you can to achieve them. Wake up every morning with purpose and live to see that purpose accomplished. Your duty is to find out what the purpose of your existence is . You can only know that by consulting God of course. Once that purpose is discovered work out a plan of how it can be fulfilled. Your faith in God will give you the strength and fortitude to overcome any obstacles that you will meet.

You Are Not Independent of God

Do not be so self reliant that you deny the existence of God. Acknowledge God as God and always know that where your human limitations end, His grace (which is always with you), continues to a point where He will even do the supernatural for you to realize your dreams – Isaiah 48:17-18. Only by prayer and meditation upon His word, make sure that your dreams and actions are in accordance to His principles. Do not trust in other humans at the expense of what your faith in God requires either. When the advice of man contradicts God’s counsel, obey God.
In Psalm 37:4,5 God promises to give us the desires of our hearts if we commit our ways to Him. Desires are dreams! So a balanced individual dares to dream and act on his/her dreams. They commit their plans through faith in God. They seek guidance, counsel and totally rely on the love and grace of a Higher Power to make everything gel together. It takes faith in God to have dreams and aspirations, so never use your faith in God as crutch for not dreaming, and dreaming big!

Three Career Mental Blocks Against Network Marketing To Overcome

A mind block stops visionary thinking.

A mind block stops visionary thinking.

When I got started with network marketing for the first time, I was a fully fledged career woman with a beautiful corner office working as a corporate executive with mental blocks to the profession.

What attracted me to the concept at first was the product. I loved the product and I saw a lot of value in using it. It was the kind of lifestyle product that I had always wanted for myself and my family.

I was very skeptical and suspicious about the business model of network marketing as I had never done it before and was yet to meet someone I knew personally who was successful in it.

The fact that I could not afford to use the product because of lack of extra money at the end of my salary opened my eyes to the fact that I needed to look at the business concept differently. Through it I could raise enough side income to be able to use the product that I loved so much.

That was when my journey in network marketing began. In this post I share with you three important mental blocks I had to come to terms with in order for me to start seeing some significant success with my business.

1. Understand The Power of Network Marketing
No. 1 of Mental blocks was that NWM does not work.

Network Marketing is a 100 Billion dollar per year industry. There are individuals that I know personally now who have completely changed their lives through this business model. From being frustrated, overworked corporate employees to being healthier, happier individuals who have cut down or completely eliminated their corporate office hours. I am one of those who are making an almost full-time income and have cut down the hours I put into my job related work to 30%.

Moreover, the job market in my resident and home country is shrinking daily and to see individuals who would have had no fall back after losing their jobs getting ahead to make a living for their families without a job is amazing. Also globally the baby boomer generation (of whom I am at the tail end) are retiring with less than exciting retirement packages. Many are finding a way of remaining relevant business-wise as well as beefing up their pensions through this noble profession. This article on the Forbes website is an eye opener on planning for retirement using network marketing.

2. Do Your Due Diligence
Number 2 of mental blocks was that NWM has no professional credibility.

One of the first steps I took after deciding to do the network marketing business was to do my background research. At first I started by Googling the company and the product. I must say based on what I found on Google, had I not used the product once before, and enjoyed the experience, I would have cancelled my membership and forgotten about the business. Some of the reports were so contrary to what I had experienced the one time I used the product that I knew they were lies. What I have discovered with time is that not all the information on the net is fact. Do a scientifically sound research exercise that covers a broad spectrum of criteria before making a conclusion.

So I decided to take a different route. I chose to attend a live event that the company was having in South Africa. I drove to Johannesburg and what I saw and heard there was enough to seal my decision. Meeting the company leadership from Head Office in the USA, listening to the long term business vision that the founders had and talking to local business reps and customers made me see the value of personally getting involved in the business as well. A friend that I trust with whom I partnered to do the research actually flew to the USA to check out the physical existence of the company. I even asked a former school mate who lived in the state where the company HQ was to go check them out as well. Their reports confirmed what I had already seen myself.

So do your research and make sure that the research is not just doing a Google search of the company name. Use your professional acumen and do a credible research exercise. Once your belief in the company and the business model they offer is secured, move on to the next level.

2. Believe In Yourself
Number 3 of Mental blocks was that I was too cool for NWM and I could not do it.

The fact that you are a corporate executive or a career professional means that you are an intelligent person who can make informed decisions about your financial future. Be confident about the decision that you have made. Approach your professional colleagues to market your product with them without shame or fear. Understand the mental barriers they themselves might have to the business model (you were once there yourself anyway) but do not seek their opinion or permission when promoting the concept with them. Shed off that I Am Too Cool attitude that I have seen cripple the networking careers of many conventional career professionals. The personal value that the network marketing profession has is way beyond what any job can offer (the earning capacity, the time freedom and the personal development you will build are invaluable). Believe in yourself and the decision that you have made and if need be, spend less time with those who deride the choice that you have made.

If you found this information useful for your business, please leave a comment and share with the people that you know will benefit from it.

Make The Slight Edge Work In Your Favor

Make The Slight Edge Work In Your Favor

The other day I was approached by a lady who was curious about what I did for a living. She was frantic and wanted me to take her on board so that she could start making money because she had just lost her job.

My internal response was a mixture of sadness and concern because I knew that the words she was saying were driven by fear and desperation as opposed to a sudden realization that my business model was legal and legitimate. Through a mutual friend, she knew what I was doing for business.

So calmly I asked her a number of questions not to dismiss her but to qualify her and make sure that she understood what she was asking me to get her into. A few probing questions revealed that she thought that by joining my team she would be guaranteed a steady flow of income the very next month end. It also turned out that with the knowledge of what she needed to do for that to happen, she decided not to sign up after all.

The Slight Edge Is At Work All The Time

The Slight EdgeYou see, what had happened while I was growing my business and she was comfortable with being in a job was that daily I went through the processes of growing both myself and my business. I was growing my business on the side while holding down a job so the months that I went without being paid a penny were not apparent to her because my job income covered me.

For some reason she was not prepared to experience those income dry spells while counting on the business to sustain her and her family. So she opted to start a buying and selling venture instead where she felt she had some control of income security (not sure how though).

This experience was a clear demonstration of how many people do not understand the power of The Slight Edge. I am making the income that I am making in my networking business today because of the compound effect of the work that I have been doing from the day that I started up to today.

The personal development initiatives that I have taken, the corporate trainings that I have attended, the doing the business that I have been doing have all produced who and where I am in my productivity level.

You Can make The Slight Edge Work In Your Favor

I am always amazed and just smile from within when I share the concept with someone and they ask how much I am making moneywise. Normally I do not disclose my income (it is confidential like anyone else’s income) but once in a while I indulge them. When I do tell, some look at me in disbelief because they think I am exaggerating the truth. What causes me to smile is the fact that people think that if I am making whatever amount of money from the business, they too can make the same just like that.

In my earlier days in this profession I heard a lot of “when I see your results I will join.” Well good luck with that because by the time my success and results start to show visibly I would be that far ahead of you in knowledge and experience.

What many people miss to understand is the power of time combined with action. Consistent action produces a potent compound effect that you need to respect each time you want to put off doing something that you ought to do now. The results of whatever action one is taking may not show now but it does not mean that nothing is happening.

One day the world wakes up as usual and they see this seemingly overnight success and they gape in amazement. What they did not appreciate was what was going on in the background through all the small action steps that the individual was doing (some simple and some complex) that has culminated in this gigantic success story.

So whatever it is that you are putting off doing, change your stance and take action. Even if you might not see the results now, keep taking the necessary action, develop yourself into a better person by learning but do not stop taking those small daily steps. Forgive yourself for past procrastination but decide that from today onwards you will not stop taking action until you get what you want.

Long Term Success Steps In Network Marketing

Do you want to have long term success and build a sustainable network marketing business? Pay attention to this post.

Many network marketers are frustrated by short-term results. They start of showing the opportunity fast, get people to sign up and then realize they are in a rut. Team members start falling out as fast if not faster than the rate at which they are coming in.

They work hard but the results just do not come. They make a little money but it is not enough to feed the financial independence dream that they started off with.

There are three steps that you need to master in order to build long term success and sustainability into your business.

1. Select A Skill To Learn and Teach

For many new network marketers, the focus of their early activities is on sharing the opportunity. There is nothing wrong with that but many mess it up because of poor posture. They may score some successes and get people joining the opportunity and then discover that they do not have the skill of creating duplication for example and the people fall out.

Long term success is assured if as you share the opportunity you also learn a skill that will bring sustainability to your business. Look for a skill set to learn and master that matches your personality. For example you could learn blogging and SEO, social media marketing, PPC etc.

Mastering such a skill will ensure that you continue to have new people to talk to about your business beyond you family and current friends. You can then teach your team members how to do the same. That is what will ensure long term success for your business.

2. Work On Your Mindset

Think Outside The boxMy opinion is that skill contributes 10% and mindset contributes 90% to both your short term and long term success in network marketing. Your attitude towards your business is a reflection of your mindset.

New network marketers come in from a totally different paradigm. It requires a mindset shift on their part for them to start thinking like an entrepreneur. For example the two most important paradigm shifts that they will need to make are:

Attitude to making lots of money – As an employee you are accustomed to an income with a ceiling. In network marketing your dreams are your limiting factor. If you struggle with grasping that, you might not take off at all. Your mind will just refuse to accept the possibility of the figures you see and become paralyzed into inaction.
Attitude to Long Term Rewards – Again as an employee, you work for two weeks or a month and get paid. Your income is secure and it is directly related to the amount of time you put in. As a new entrepreneur, you will put in a lot of time and effort and the result CAN take time to show. Without a mindset conditioned for long term rewards, you will not last.

3. Build Relationships

Relationships countDo not see dollar signs on the face of each person that you meet. Take the time to know them. Do not rush to pitch your opportunity. Steady is the name of the game for long term success.

Whether you meet an individual face to face or you meet them online, they want to know that you care about them before they know what you care about. Converse with people. Listen carefully and ask relevant questions about them. Pick up their contact information and let them know you will be in touch about some helpful information.

If you meet online, share value content with them. At the right time take your relationship offline and call them. Never use the internet as a way of hiding from or avoiding talking to people. Taking things offline builds their trust and confidence in you.

Whether you meet offline or online, create the rapport and know when to pitch your opportunity. People buy from people they know and trust.

How to Posture Up When You Are Brand New in MLM

A big challenge that I know you are struggling to handle as a brand new to network marketer is how to posture up when you do not yet have results to show.

To posture up is to have confidence to approach people, show them you concept and not be deflated by any negativity they may throw at you.

Some people say you must ‘fake it until you make it”. That means pretending that you are successful until that success happens. Why pretend when you can build self confidence and share stories that are actually true.

There are two things that can help you to be confident and posture up when you present you business concept as well as when you project yourself about your new career of network marketing.

1. Talk About Your Team, Not About Yourself

Do not talk about yourself as you do not yet have the results to showcase. Shine your light on your team instead. there are leaders on your team who already have the results. Leverage their value and their success stories when you are starting out.

It is after the presentation that your posture is challenged. Your prospect will ask questions. Knowing these stories off the cuff is actually a powerful tool in responding to questions and objectives.

For example if the question “how much have you made with this business?” comes up. Your response should be “I am only a few days/weeks in this, but Nomusa, the lady who introduced this to me was laid off from an executive job last year and she has been and continues to maintain her family’s lifestyle through income from this business.”

Rather than chew your tongue for an answer, you posture up and confidently point them to real life evidence of what the opportunity is doing for someone who has been in it longer than you have. Have your sponsor ready to take a call from you and speak to your prospect if the need to do so arises.

The important point is for you to meet with the leaders on your team and talk to them. Ask them questions about their successes and the challenges they have overcome. Internalize the testimonials that other leaders share at company live meetings.

Be there, be interested and attend live events to meet with other leaders in addition to your sponsor. Pick up stories related to most of the common questions and objections such as income, having no money, having no time etc. Your posture will improve based on the truths that you know.

2. Learn a Skill Set, Use It and Teach It

teachingThere is nothing that validates you as an expert in any field of knowledge than teaching. Pick out a network marketing skill that you know you need to grow your business. Gather information that teaches you how to execute that skill. Go out into the field and practice what you have learned. You do not have to be perfect at it. Use the skill and then teach it to others.

Let me give you an example. When I first started in my network marketing business, I learned how to use facebook to reach out to people. After connecting with them, I then took our communication offline either by phoning them or meeting them in person. It is one of the skills that I imparted to my team for them to use in finding people to talk to.

At our early team opportunity presentation events with my emerging team, we invited our guests to stay on for a short training on how they would do the business if they got started. I then showed everyone how to use facebook to find people to talk to.

This gave confidence to the prospects that our team had a culture of equipping new members with essential skills. Above all I was able to posture up in front of the prospects even if I did not yet have the financial results. Develop and teach a skill set. It will grow your business.
