Income Producing – The Most Important Activity To Do Is This

Income producing is the best upfront indicator of whether or not you are successful in any business.

Training from your company and other network marketing coaches you may be following have given you loads of information I am sure. All this was in a bid to help you succeed as a network marketer. Much as money is not the ONLY positive outcome for network marketers, income producing was the primary reason why you got started in this business I am sure.

So sifting through all the knowledge that you have acquired, I conclude that there is one KEY activity and skill that you must master in order to make money in your network marketing business.

Connect With People To Be Income Producing

My Fixed Line Office Phones

My Fixed Line Office Phones

For some decent or even phenomenal income producing, you must focus 80% or more of your effort in connecting with people. There are many ways of connecting with people. Blogging and emailing are one of them. These two are great for generating leads but they are passive ways of connecting.

Actively connect with people by using your voice. You heard me right! Talk to people either on the phone or directly. I know the majority of network marketers have a phobia for the phone for growing their businesses. For some reason the phone becomes a hot flaming object or a twenty pound extension to the arm if they are calling to talk about their business.

Overcome Your Fear Of Talking To People

I still get the occasional panic attacks as well when I am calling prospects. But you know what, I have realized that I can let myself be a prisoner of my fear and produce mediocrity. The better alternative is to face my fear, make the calls anyway and be income producing. It’s really a matter of choice for you and for me.

Actually what I do now is that I make sure on my target number of people that I talk to daily, at least three of those I talk to face to face or over the phone. This ensures that I do not fall back into the “no voice calls” trap again. It can silently creep back in if you are not diligent about it. Phone these days of course includes online technologies such as whatsapp, Viber, Skype, Facebook Messenger etc.

Set A Daily Minimum Quota Of Direct/Voice Contacts

All the people that I connect with long distance that I cannot talk to face to face have at least one of these technology talk methods. So as fast as our online chats will permit, I take our communication to a voice call as soon as possible. Video calling on Skype, facebook Messenger and IMO to mention  few can actually make your call as close to face to face as it can get.

For your call to be of value and get your prospect prequalified before they see the presentation, talk less and listen more. To not be “salesy”. Ask questions and listen for their pain areas and offer your product or opportunity to address a need that they have told you about. It’s not an interrogation!! Smartly weave the questions into your conversation.

Talking to people with your own voice is the most powerful skill for your business to be income producing. So do not hide in your house or office. Make appointments and go talk to people face to face. Do not hide behind your computer endlessly blogging and commenting or liking Facebook posts. Chat to your social media contacts directly and take it to a voice or video call as soon as possible.

Watch the video below. It will reinforce what I have just shared with you.

Did you find value in this? If you did, share the post with your team on social media or email them the link.

Strangers: Talk to Them Without Upfront Pitching

How To Talk To Strangers Without Pitching

talking to strangersIf you are to grow your network marketing business to any significant level of success, you have to master the art and science of how to talk to strangers. At some point your warm market will run dry and you will need to talk to strangers – people who belong to what we call the cold market.

You know it yourself, very few people like to be sold to. People generally prefer to want to buy as opposed to being sold to.

One of the pitfalls many network marketers fall into is that of selling upfront because of the pressure of wanting to grow their businesses fast. Speed is good, but I will go for sustainability more than speed. If you want to grow a sustainable network marketing business, you must be able to create rapport with stranger and let the relationship that builds lead them to want to purchase your product or to join your team.

That first encounter with a total stranger will make or break your relationship. So follow the following five steps to build long term relationships that can blossom into fruitful business partnerships.

1. Do Not Pitch on First Encounter

The initial conversation is the key to success. Most people feel they need to come up with their sales speech immediately they meet someone. No matter how well you present your pitch, remember that prior to this encounter, they did not know you. So they have no basis to like you or to trust you. People buy from people they like and trust. You are in neither of those categories yet, so they will not buy anything that you sell to them.

2. Build Trust When You Talk To Strangers

Since people buy from people they know and trust, build that trust. Get to know them and let them get to know you. Give your relationship time to grow to a point where it will be natural for them to say yes to your offer. Actually as they get to know you more, they might be the ones who ask what you do and express an interest to know more about it.

3. Take The Pressure Off Yourself To Sell

I understand that you started your business to make money. The faster the money comes in the better hey? The pressure to make a sale as quickly as possible might make building a relationship first look like a total waste of time. Well high retention, and thus sustainability for your business can only come from customers and reps who believe in you. Take the pressure off yourself to sell and just focus on building a friendship.

4. Have Fun

Meeting and getting to know a new person can be fun if you let it. Make the process of acquainting to one another more fun for both of you. Enjoy the conversation. Let them enjoy the conversation as well. Just be human. Do not become like a robot with memorized sales lines to launch on any and everyone you meet. Relax and let the conversation open the opportunities for you. Do not be tense when you talk to strangers. Relax.

5. Focus on Them Not You

This is very hard to do in a world where people are so full of themselves. Let your first meeting stand out for them in how different it will be compared to what they are used to. When they expect you to focus on yourself and what you do or sell, focus on them. Ask questions about them and what they do. When they ask about you, talk about your stuff very low key and go back to focusing on them.  When you talk to strangers, ask what I call “feel good questions”. Do not be interrogatory. Make the stranger feel good about you, the conversation and themselves.

Did you find this useful in helping you to build rapport with new people and how to talk to strangers. Feel free to share this information with your team or people you know will benefit from it.

Three-Way Calling For Improved Conversions

3 Three-way callsThree-way calling is an essential skill to master as a network marketer. It is especially important if you are brand new to network marketing and do not yet have credibility with your prospects or have not yet built your own story to share. This will take pressure to perform off you as a new member.

There are different ways in which three-way calling can be used. Whichever way you prefer to use three-way calling, it is important to pre-arrange with the person supporting you in advance so that they block out the time for you. Your support person could be your sponsor or another leader in your organization that your sponsor has referred or introduced you to.

Be mindful that your own sponsor can also be busy. Besides supporting you, they have the rest of the team to work with as well as their own personal enrollment activities. It is good three-way calling etiquette to book them in advance as opposed to pouncing on them when you already have a prospect waiting.

It will help you also to have a data base of other leaders on your team to be on your third party validation list so that you always have a fallback should one or the other be tied up. Also when setting appointments with your prospects emphasize to them the importance of keeping time for your appointment. You should also be on time as well.

There are two main categories of third party validation calls: pre-exposure and post-exposure calling. I use three permutations of these two categories as summarized herein.

1. Pre Plus Post Exposure Calling
If you are really brand new and you have never done any long distance exposure, you may need to listen to your sponsor (expert) set up and close a call first before you can venture to do it alone. Your expert will of course coach you on how to edify them before you hand the call over to them. At the scheduled time:

• Call your prospect (whom you have earlier alerted that you are going to have a colleague with you on the call).
• Do the preliminaries and add your expert to the call.
• Edify your expert and hand the control of the call over to them
• Listen and learn as they set up your prospect to watch the online video presentation and lets them know about the follow up call after they are done
• At the appointed follow up call, dial your friend, add your expert immediately and let them do the closing while you listen.

2. Post Exposure Testimonial and Closing
You can employ this validation format when you have mastered the skill of setting up the presentation but are still a little shaky about closing. This could be after you have presented long distance or you have just done a live 2 on 1 presentation and you need help with closing. Let your prospect know during the presentation set up that after they finish watching the video, you are going to connect them to a colleague of yours who is in a strong position to answer their questions and share their story.

• At the end of the video, call them if they are long distance or smile at them if they are next to you and tell them that you are now calling that colleague.
• Edify your expert and hand the controls over to them to share their story and do the closing.

3. Post Exposure After Closing And Getting Questions
This validation method is for the seasoned network marketer. You are now good at presenting and closing but from time to time you get that hard to crack nut who needs to hear a different voice from yours before they make a decision. In this case you listen carefully to the questions they ask and pick from your pool of supporting experts one who has a story that will address that person’s concerns.

No matter how new or how old you are at network marketing, third party validations can make a big difference in your conversions rates. Three-way calling is one way of making sure that you do not get your sponsor or team leader scurrying all over town to do validations for you. So pick up that phone ans start making those appointments.

If you found this information useful for your business, please leave a comment and share with the people that you know will benefit from it.

Prequalify Prospects, Show Them What They Want

One of the biggest mistakes that we make as network marketers, especially when new is to not prequalify prospects before showing them our package.

I call it our package because, what we have in our hands as true network marketers is a multifaceted concept. A solid network marketing business concept allows the people that we talk to about it to choose any of the three options.

• Be a product user/customer
• Be a business representative/partner
• Be both a product user and business representative/partner

A pyramid scheme cannot stand because they offer only the ‘business’ option. So everyone who joins a pyramid has no choice but to look for people to join the ‘business’ as there is no product to offer.

Follow me through this analogy:

If I were to open a brick and mortar business such as a coffee shop for example I would most likely need the following for my business to take off and function successfully:

• Investors or business partners
• A sales team
• Customers to buy and enjoy my coffee, scones, fancy cakes etc.

Let’s take a closer look at each of these critical people in my imaginary fortune building venture

1. Prospects As Potential Investors or Business Partners
InvestorThese are individuals who are going to pour in their money, time and/or skills for us together to create a corporation that will create jobs and make enough profits to support our families and give them a spectacular life. It is not every Jack and Jill who will qualify to be in this category. Individuals with a big vision and who believe in me and the business concept will fit here.

Do my investors or business partners have to be every family member or friend that I have. Certainly not. They could be my friend or family but they do not have to be. The qualifier here is the big stake that they are willing to put in to run with me.

Why then is it that when we are presenting what our network marketing company has to offer to prospects we speak to everyone like they are supposed to be investors or business partners. Ask them the right questions and once you find out they are business partner material, invite them to become your business partners. Keep in mind not every prospect with an investor mindset will be excited about your particular idea.

2. A Sales Team Potential
Read sales team to include everyone that you need to have for your customer to happily have access to the product. The major investment they will give for this to happen is their skill and PART of their time. They are not fully engrossed in the business concept like the business partner. They are interested enough to take time away from family to contribute to part of your dream, make a comfortable amount of money and get on with their other areas of life. They only get paid if prospects become buying customers.

The same applies in network marketing. There are those who are interested in the money but not to the same degree as your investors and business partners. Allow them to operate at that level, make a little bit of extra money and get on with their other areas of life.

3. Customers Only, Thank You
CustomerCustomers do not even want to know whether or not you have a business plan in place. They just want to enjoy the product and have it work for them the way that you said it will. If you disappoint them they will move on and look for another provider of a similar product or service.

Customers do not need to see or know what the business plan is. They just want to know about the product. So why would you show them the business plan? They will only roll up their eyes and be put off by it. Show them what they want to see, what it will do for them and let them enjoy the ride as soon as they can.

Categories 1 and 2 will need to see both the business plan and the product. Your business partner crew want to understand how soon the big returns will come and how big they are, how sustainable and viable the business is going to be and how much they have to put in to make profits. Your sales team kind of guys will be interested in the same stuff but to a lesser intensity. With them if the deal does not work out, they will look for another one.

Ask the right questions. Listen carefully for the answers, show each individual the correct part of the package and work with each one of them to meet their personal dreams.

The question begs; can individuals shift from one category to another? That is the subject of yet another home business empowerment discussion.

The Five Steps to Success as a Network Marketer

It is natural to want to succeed at everything that you start to do. Now that you are a network marketer, you want to win at it I am sure. Not everyone who does this business will succeed, but anyone who puts their mind to it and follows the below five steps can succeed.

  1. Keep Your Job & Manage Your Actions

I have heard many a network marketer bemoan that their day jobs are robbing them of time to grow their home businesses faster. I will caution you to hold your horses in that line of thinking. If you cannot make your home business work and start paying you well on a part-time basis, you are probably not going to make it work even if you became full time.

You see success as a network marketer is not dependent on the abundance of time. It does depend on how effectively and efficiently you make use of the time available doing the money making activities in your business. Focus on discipline and managing your after-work activities to build an income that equals or surpasses what you are making in your job before you quit.

  1. Take the Lead – Call Your Sponsor

You can only get into network marketing through word of mouth information from someone who shares the opportunity with you. That person is called your sponsor or upline. Show your hunger for success by not waiting for them to call you to find out what kind of help you need. Take the initiative and call them and let them know from the onset that you are willing to learn what you can from them. Ask them for names of their sponsors several levels up so that if you do not get the kind of support that you need from your direct sponsor, you can get it from others in the organisation.

The way that this industry is structured is such that your sponsor benefits from supporting you. Sponsors are looking for members who are willing to be mentored to success. Be the one.

Beware of the dependency syndrome and the blame game. With or without a supportive sponsor or helpful uplines, your success in the business is your responsibility. Things will be harder without the support but success is still possible.

  1. Be Coachable and Teachable

A good network marketing company and a good team leader will direct you to a business system to work with to grow your business. Once you have pronounced yourself a student of your sponsor on how to use the system successfully, do what they tell you to do. Do not re-invent the wheel. All the successful people that I know in this industry look for a mentor who has used the company system and has had the kind of success they want. Identify that person in your company and do as you are told and shown. Rebellion here or being a smart aleck will lead to unnecessary frustration on your part.

  1. Be The Leader That You Want

Strike a balance between adding new team members and mentoring your team. Do not breed orphans in your team who end up being just a number. Create the time to induct your new team members and let them know you are available to lead them by example in what to do to be successful. Without babysitting and molly coddling the reps on your team, train them on how to duplicate what you do daily to grow your business. Spend at least the first 30days with your new rep training them, supporting and holding their hand until they are confident to be on their own and do the same for their team. Build long term relationships with your team and success is certain.

  1. Operate a Business not a Hobby

Never forget that you are running a real business. The income that you will make will be subject to the tax laws of your country of operation. You will also be entitled to the same tax write-offs that other businesses have. Benefits come with responsibilities. Take the time to keep accurate business records. Engage someone to do your books on a regular basis. Consult those in the know about home business accounting.

I find that once you start your network marketing business with this mindset and approach, you are going to treat it as a real business with regards to the commitment and effort you will put in learning the required skills and taking the necessary action for success.
