Motivation Can Be Created For Yourself and Others

Are you lacking motivation, feeling discouraged and despondent as to whether you will or can ever be successful in life and in your business?motivation

You need to stay motivated.

Motivation is the fuel that you need to stay on course and do what you need to do to achieve your goals; and you need it daily.

Here are a few quotes to motivate you:

“Of course motivation is not permanent. But then, neither is bathing; but it is something you should do on a regular basis.” – Zig Ziggler

“The individual who says it is not possible should move out of the way of those doing it.”
― Tricia Cunningham

“You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford

So how do you stay motivated? You must decide to stay motivated. It is a choice you make that no one else can do. Actually the best motivation is self motivation because when it comes from within, no one can take it away.

I am going to share with you a few help points on how you can keep yourself motivated. In the process you will find that you are motivating others too.

Take Action Consistently
Starting to do something new is always nerve wrecking. The only way to deal with the nerves is to feel afraid and do it anyway, not once, not twice but until you know how to do it well. Set the tempo for action and keep at it. The more you do an activity, the better you become. So keep on doing. You levels of confidence will rise to motivate you.

VisionHave A Vision and Set Goals To Achieve It
My favourite book says “My people perish for lack of vision”. Where there is no vision, there is no reason to live. Do you know what you want. Who do you want to be. How do you want to be known. What do you want to have. Create a vision board that you look at every day that reminds you what you want to become.

In case the vision intimidates you because it is too big, break t down into bite size goals and steps that you must take every day. Give yourself a reason to wake up everyday.

Do results Driven Activities
Do not do what I call treadmill activities. You can be busy all the time but achieving nothing. Your vision and your goals will define what your results ought to be and if what you are doing is not getting you where you want to go you will exhaust yourself and kill the motivation. Focus on results driven activities.

Create a Motivation Circle
Build relationships with other like-minded individuals so that you can do things together and keep each other motivated. Meet often or talk on the phone often. Have them to rekindle your fire when you are down or to kick your butt when you are slacking. Keep each other accountable and do not buy each other’s excuses. Your motivation circle will be even more fun and exciting if it is made up of people on your team. Get together and do business growth activities together. Celebrate each others’ victories and successes.

Help Others To Succeed
People who help others to achieve their goals often find the motivation to attain their own goals too. Have an open door policy of letting people seek you out if in need of help. as you show them what to do to achieve success you become a servant leader because the best way to show people what to do is doing it yourself. There is nothing like people looking up to you to get you to stand up and work.

Constantly Reprogram Yourselfprogramming
Have you ever noticed how a computer gets to ‘hang’. I am not sure what happens in the hardware but you will be in the middle of a task and the processing thingy on your screen keeps spinning and spinning until you have to end task and refresh. Our minds and bodies can get into that tail spin too and you will need occasional refreshing. How do you reprogram? Go away somewhere alone or with your mastermind group and chill. Take time to reflect, reorganize and regroup. Remember to have fun while you are at it and break the serious and monotonous business mode.

What God Has To Say About Your Success In 2015

Does God Care 12015 is promising to be a fabulous year for you and me because we have taken the time to set out a road map that we are going to follow to achieve our goals and make a success of our plans.

If you have not crafted your road map for 2015, then visit this article and take the time to set out your personal life strategic plan.

But whether or not you already have a plan in place, did you know that God wants you to succeed. He has a plan for your success as stated in Jeremiah 29 v 11. In fact He has a lot to say about your success.

God wants you to succeed and He has some specific instructions for you on HOW you can attain success. I am going to share with you just four of the points that He tells you to take note of as part of your success plan.

  1. Commit All Your Works to God

“Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established” Proverbs 16:3 (KJV). Whatever plans you have for 2015, God is interested in them. Do you want to start a business, create more income, be spiritually stronger, lose weight, spend more time with your family, restore broken relationships, God says tell Me all about it and seek My counsel on a daily basis and all of your plans shall be established. So beyond making the plans and writing them down, pray about them. Study the Bible daily for guidance and you will have extra ordinary success in 2015.

  1. Seek Wise Human Counsel

Do not attempt to go it alone. Proverbs 15:22 (KJV) says “Without counsel purposes are disappointed; but in the multitude of counsellors, they are established.” Find people who have attained the goals that you are aspiring for, build relationships with them and sound your ideas off them. If you are having trouble finding such wise God-fearing people, ask God to bring them into your life. Ask and it shall be given unto you (Matthew 7:7).

How do you know they are wise? They are honest and uphold the same values as yourself. They are not afraid to be upfront with you. They are willing to help and are not jealous of your success.

  1. Work Diligently

Diligent work is meticulously, conscientiously, industriously and thoroughly done, producing a high quality product. Proverbs 21:5 “The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness, but of every one that is hasty only to want”. Work that is done hastily is done without due care and the quality is substandard. Work that is done diligently will attract more customers and more profit. At the market place, be known for your diligence and your plans will fall into place.

  1. Take a Weekly Break

God designed our bodies to benefit from both labour and rest. That is why at the beginning of life on earth He established a seven-day weekly work cycle. Respecting that weekly cycle will not only benefit you physically but it will regenerate you spiritually and emotionally and will do wonders for your family relationships. Exodus 20:8-11 expounds on both the physical and spiritual significance of observing that weekly rest. Note that rest comes after work, so use the six days of the week efficiently and effectively and by the time you get to the seventh day, you will be needing the rest.

So confidently step out into 2015 knowing that you have a Supreme Being on your side to make sure that your plans for the year will succeed.

Target Setting And Action Taking For A Fabulous 2015

On TargetSo like I shared with you in yesterday’s post, I spent the last week of December 2014 target setting and planning for the coming year, 2015. I laid out a road map of the goals that I want to achieve and the actions that I must take in order to achieve them.

Today I will share with you the how of that planning and execution process. You probably have heard these six principles of goal setting, have effectively applied them at work but not in your life.

It is time that you applied them with the same intensity in your life. Rather than just make resolutions for the year that you will not keep, it is time you took time to map out a strategic plan for your life and implemented it.

So if you have planned for the office and have not yet planned for YOURSELF, use the week end to develop your personal 2015 strategic plan.

These are the six steps that you MUST follow in order to develop a life strategy that will take you from where you are to where you know you deserve to be. Rather than just wish for success, if you do ALL six of these steps, you will finally get to realize the success.

Step 1: Be Specific

For example do not say, I want to make more money in 2015. Specify a clear target figure. Based on your financial projections, name a figure that you are aiming to earn. Saying I must make an extra $5,000/month is more specific. It is a quantifiable target or goal. So, no general statements but specific measurable targets to reach.

Step 2: State a Time Frame To Achieve the Target By

Specifying a date by which to achieve the set goal will give you urgency to get down to doing what is required. If there is no time line, the tendency is to just drift and hope for the best. In our income target example, saying I want to make an extra $5,000/month by 30 April 2015 will get you off your bottom to do the work as time waits for nobody.

Step 3: Write Your Target Down

Targets kept in the head are rarely met. Writing your target down makes it important. Write it where you can view it daily. Take advantage of technology. Write your goals on index cards and then take a picture of each and keep them in a 2015 Goals Folder in your smart phone or tablet. At specific times of the day, read your goals out loud. What you confess with your mouth comes to pass and it keeps it at the front of your mind. Schedule a weekly or fortnightly review to check how on or off track you are and make the necessary adjustments.

Step 4: Devise A Plan of Action

Achievement is a result of actually doing a set of activities leading towards your goal. Talk to anyone and they have big dreams. Why have they not attained them? Because they are not prepared to do what it takes. To come up with an effective Action plan ask yourself:

  • Is what I am currently doing going to get me to my goal?
  • Do I need to find and learn a new way of doing things to reach my goal? (Back to our income example: If your current income generating activities cannot bring in an additional $5,000 by 30 April 2015, then you need to look for an additional income stream activity to do, learn the skills associated with it and get started. This could take the form of a side business or new investment ventures)
  • What specific actions must I take to reach my goal? Figure out the HOW and do it.

Step 5: Decide the Price You are Willing To Pay

Something for something, nothing for nothing is what it boils down to. Good things do not come easy. There is a price to be paid. Are you willing to pay the price to get what you want, or even need. You WILL have to give up certain habits and adopt new ones to reach your goal. You may have to give up watching TV and/or sports, give up drinking, get out of bed earlier and go to sleep later. Whatever you need to do, only you can figure it out. Once figured out, DECIDE to do it!!

Step 6: Think About Your Goal Daily

Keep your goal before you every day. It is the fuel you need for the engine of action to keep high energy. Having your goal written in the present can help make it real for you. For our example. Rather than writing it down the traditional way in which we stated it earlier do this: I am able to buy a new car because I am earning an extra $5,000/month by 30 April 2015. This way of writing your goal pumps adrenalin into your system when you read it. Also more than just the goal, it marries it to the outcome that attaining it will result in.

In Conclusion

The above six steps are mandatory. Skip one of them and you are sentencing yourself to not meeting your targets and never realizing your dreams for yet another year.

  • Is it going to take time to see results? YES it is. But time will move anyway whether or not you take action. Might as well spend it moving towards your goal.
  • Is it going to be easy? NO! You will face challenges. You just have to have enough stubborn resolve to push through the challenges.
  • Is it going to be worth it? YES, YES, YES. Close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting behind the wheel in your new car, smell the new leather, and your kids excitedly asking where you are taking them for ice cream or pizza. Is that scene worth it? Then get off your butt and resolutely take action to make it a reality.

Keep focused, persistent and determined. Great things are possible to the believing action taker.

Have a fabulous 2015!

Set Your Goals and Make 2014 Your Year of Transformational Success

Set Your Goals and Make 2014 Your Year of Transformational Success

Recognition jan 2014Over this last week end I was at a company training event in Harare. It was awesome. We were being trained by one of the youngest achievers in the organization. After six years of committed and consistent work he is earning a five figure monthly income and has become an international trainer worth his salt. I have worked for a whooping twenty-two years in my profession, rising to the top, and I am not even earning a third of what this young man is making. That says a lot about the J.O.B. system. In the above pic, that’s me (3rd from left) and my fellow achievers on stage being recognized for rank advancement.

Anyway, that is not the subject of our post today.

During the training, a question was asked as to how many people had made their resolutions, set their goals and made plans for achieving in 2014. The number of hands that went up for the affirmative response to that question shocked me. Less than 10% of the people in the room put up their hands. This was a business training seminar and 90% of the attendees had not set any goals to work towards.

Ladies and gentleman life, any part of your life is a journey and if you do not know where you are going with it, you will end up anywhere. Setting goals is a very essential part of the success journey. Anyone who has ever achieved anything of significance has not done it randomly. They have deliberately defined what they want and set out a plan how to achieve it.

There are two major steps to do in setting your goals. These may seem to be mundane but if you skip these two steps you might find it very difficult to achieve whatever it is that you are aiming for.

1. Write Your Goals Down

Goals StepsIf you want 2014 to be a great year for you, you need to set your goals. Not just a list of resolutions but clear goals that are measurable and time bound. The first step to making your dreams come true is to get them out of your head onto paper. Have your 2014 journal in which you will write down your specific goals. If there is no quantity to the goal then it is just a statement not a goal. If there is no get by date then it may end up being just a wish. They say goals that are written down have a 95% of happening. having them written in a journal allows you to expound and include a plan of action that you will keep track of on a daily basis. Keep them at the front of the journal so that daily as you visit your journal to update it, you look at your goals. If you have not done so already, take out pen and paper and get on with it. If the journal is yet to be bought go ahead anyway and transfer once you have it.

2. Do a Vision Book or Board

Vision BookNow I have shared this idea with some family members and they have thought that it is mambo-jumbo. Well believe it or not, it works. Having a visual representation of what you are aiming for works wonder for commitment to the plan. Without going into any of the theories that support this, let’s look at the goal setting process in brief. You start off imagining what you want (mind picture). You then move on to figuring out a plan how you will attain that. It all starts with a vision. Cutting out pictures that are a representation of that vision keep it right before your eyes on a regular basis. Last year two of the items on my vision board manifested, not because I chanted over the pictures daily but because I was reminded and motivated to stick with the plan each time I saw them.  My vision book is big and full of all the great things I want to do and have, the great places I want to visit, and the inspirational people I want to meet. It spurs me on to know that I have a great part to play in accomplishing these lofty aspirations.

To tie it all in with my last two posts on letting go of the past and forgiving those who have wronged you, I urge you to set your goals guided by these two steps. Thereafter take the necessary steps to achieve your audacious dreams based on faith.

Let Go of the Past, Embrace the Future and Succeed in 2014

Let Go of the Past, Embrace the Future and Succeed in 2014

The year 2013 came and went. For some it was a year to celebrate because some goals that were set were met. For others there is a lot to regret because much of what was planned did not materialize.

For me the year 2013 was a mixed bag. I had triumphs and I had regrets. I will go over just a few key areas of my life for which I had set goals.

On the personal development front:

  • I had planned to attended all the local training events by my primary network marketing company. I managed about 95%, attending all that were done by international trainers and missing a few that were done by local trainers.
  • I had planned to attend all the international training events done in Africa. I scored 100% on that.
  • I had planned to attend at least one international training event outside Africa. In early December I was in Thailand with fifteen others of my country man doing just that.
  • I had planned to read 10pages of a good book daily. I managed to read just under 1200pages instead of the planned 3600.

On the business growth front:

  • I had planned to set up this blog and publish five posts each week. I did set up the blog and was meant to publish 225 posts in total. I only managed 50.
  • I had planned to do a weekly webinar for my team, I did start the webinars in August and then floundered towards the end of the year.
  • I had planned to achieve a certain rank within my business. I missed that mark.

On the personal life/family front:

  • I had planned to travel more with my family.

–  I managed to travel to Nyanga, Troutbeck Resort with my husband and all our kids for a weekend out in May

 – My husband and I and our eldest son went on a weekend getaway at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton, South Africa in July

 – In August I took my mom and our youngest son on a weeklong trip to Durban where we stayed at the five star Hilton Hotel and my mom saw and walked in the sea for the first time in her life. We celebrated her 69th birthday that weekend at the …..

In December while I was in Thailand, my husband and our four sons were at the Carribea Bay resort in Kariba having fun

Now, I am not sharing these successes to brag and neither am I sharing the failures to garner for your sympathy. This is to illustrate that one needs to set goals in order to have structure and purpose in one’s life and that setting targets enables the measurement of the degree of success one has attained.

We are still within the first two weeks of the ‘new’ year 2014. You may or may not have made your resolutions for the year. If you want things to be better for you in 2014, than they were last year, you have got to gear up for the success that you want to see. I will share with you one key step that will make or break your success plan for the year.

Just Let Go

Goodbye 2013As you celebrate your triumphs for 2013, you must also LET GO of your failures. Holding on to your failures will do nothing but destroy your verve to achieve your goals and make 2014 your year of fortune.

Let go of all that you did not achieve in 2013. Make today the first day of your journey to success. With the areas that I shared with you where I failed in the last year, I have two choices at my disposal.

  • I can do a quick evaluation of why things happened the way they did, learn from my mistakes and do things differently OR
  • I can wallow in how dismally I failed, blame and chastise myself to a point where I lose hope in my ability to ever achieve in those areas.

I have chosen to take the first option; and so should you. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that you can do to undo your mistakes from last year. It is all in the past. Focus on the plans that you have set for this year, decide that you want to win and go for gold. You are competing with no one  but the various finish lines and the time frames that you have set for yourself.

I wish you a very prosperous 2014. Make this your best year ever. It starts with you letting go of the past and embracing the future with energy and a positive mind.

My friend Ray Higdon (a guy that I look up to in network marketing whose teachings I follow that have got me where I am today) cut a video that summarizes the point I am talking about so well. I will leave you to watch that video to really drive the point home.

If you know anyone who can benefit from this information, please share with them this post and help them make 2014 their best year ever.
