Motivation Can Be Created For Yourself and Others

Are you lacking motivation, feeling discouraged and despondent as to whether you will or can ever be successful in life and in your business?motivation

You need to stay motivated.

Motivation is the fuel that you need to stay on course and do what you need to do to achieve your goals; and you need it daily.

Here are a few quotes to motivate you:

“Of course motivation is not permanent. But then, neither is bathing; but it is something you should do on a regular basis.” – Zig Ziggler

“The individual who says it is not possible should move out of the way of those doing it.”
― Tricia Cunningham

“You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford

So how do you stay motivated? You must decide to stay motivated. It is a choice you make that no one else can do. Actually the best motivation is self motivation because when it comes from within, no one can take it away.

I am going to share with you a few help points on how you can keep yourself motivated. In the process you will find that you are motivating others too.

Take Action Consistently
Starting to do something new is always nerve wrecking. The only way to deal with the nerves is to feel afraid and do it anyway, not once, not twice but until you know how to do it well. Set the tempo for action and keep at it. The more you do an activity, the better you become. So keep on doing. You levels of confidence will rise to motivate you.

VisionHave A Vision and Set Goals To Achieve It
My favourite book says “My people perish for lack of vision”. Where there is no vision, there is no reason to live. Do you know what you want. Who do you want to be. How do you want to be known. What do you want to have. Create a vision board that you look at every day that reminds you what you want to become.

In case the vision intimidates you because it is too big, break t down into bite size goals and steps that you must take every day. Give yourself a reason to wake up everyday.

Do results Driven Activities
Do not do what I call treadmill activities. You can be busy all the time but achieving nothing. Your vision and your goals will define what your results ought to be and if what you are doing is not getting you where you want to go you will exhaust yourself and kill the motivation. Focus on results driven activities.

Create a Motivation Circle
Build relationships with other like-minded individuals so that you can do things together and keep each other motivated. Meet often or talk on the phone often. Have them to rekindle your fire when you are down or to kick your butt when you are slacking. Keep each other accountable and do not buy each other’s excuses. Your motivation circle will be even more fun and exciting if it is made up of people on your team. Get together and do business growth activities together. Celebrate each others’ victories and successes.

Help Others To Succeed
People who help others to achieve their goals often find the motivation to attain their own goals too. Have an open door policy of letting people seek you out if in need of help. as you show them what to do to achieve success you become a servant leader because the best way to show people what to do is doing it yourself. There is nothing like people looking up to you to get you to stand up and work.

Constantly Reprogram Yourselfprogramming
Have you ever noticed how a computer gets to ‘hang’. I am not sure what happens in the hardware but you will be in the middle of a task and the processing thingy on your screen keeps spinning and spinning until you have to end task and refresh. Our minds and bodies can get into that tail spin too and you will need occasional refreshing. How do you reprogram? Go away somewhere alone or with your mastermind group and chill. Take time to reflect, reorganize and regroup. Remember to have fun while you are at it and break the serious and monotonous business mode.

Simple Steps Leading to a Successful You part 2

So, according to my last post, the key to opening your door to success is working on yourself in order to attract the correct type of people who will facilitate the achievement of your goals. Let’s be practical, how does one achieve that?

1. Write Your Goals Down

Writing Goals

First and foremost you must be clear as to what it is that you want to achieve. We will not go into the full-blown objective and goal setting process here, but I will just give you an essential step you cannot do without. WRITE YOUR GOALS down. This for me is where the pen is really mightier than the sword and the rubber meets the road. If you do not have a list of your goals that constitute your VISION and the things that you must do to achieve those goals, then you might as well walk around blind-folded. Just having a written list will transform many aspects of your life dramatically.

2. Make Your List as Comprehensive as Possible

Your list should be as comprehensive as possible to capture the vision of you that you want to see in a predetermined future. You do not have these things yet, but you aspire to have them. Just to give examples, you could list the following:

  • The people you want to meet
  • The places you want to go
  • The books you want to read
  • The things you want to do
  • The experiences you want to have
  • The kind of marriage you want to have
  • The kind of children you want to have raised when you are dome raising them
  • The kind of education you want for your children
  • The kind of giving you want to make
  • The kind of influence you want to have…..etc

3. Set Milestones and Reward Yourself When You Attain Them

For each goal in the categories of your wants, identify milestones with associated activities. This will help you feel a sense of achievement as you tick off the milestones that you have achieved one by one. Do reward yourself for attaining that milestone. Write it down and do it! Once you know what you want to achieve, it is time to attract the right kind of people. Do not invite people on board your ship until you know where you want to go with them.

Milestones

4. Build a Mastermind Team

Knock and it shall be opened unto you.’ – Matthew 7:7 These are very wise words from the Holy Book, the Bible. Doors will only open for those who knock. Which doors do you need opened? They are the doors that will give you access to people to work with. On your own the going will get too difficult but with a team, it will be easier. Find people to work with. Rather than say ‘I will do it,’ say ‘Let’s do it.’ Again I will quote from the Bible ‘A cord of three is better than one’ – Ecclesiastes 4:12. Build a MASTERMIND TEAM of like-minded people to work together in achieving a common goal.

For example to attain spiritual growth, in addition to your private devotions, be part of a Bible Study group. To attain success in business, be part of a group of business people who come together regularly to share ideas on how to do business better. You will always find people who have the same aspirations as you if you start looking. Where that mastermind group does not already exist, create one and attract the right people into it.

5. Inspire, Recognize and Reward Your Team

When you have put together the team, recognize people for their achievements. Develop a habit and system of rewarding the small steps of achievement that each team member attains. There is power in recognition and reward. The objective of creating the mastermind group is not to exploit those who join you, but to help them achieve their own dreams. The law of attraction says ‘By helping enough people to get what they want, you will get everything that you want.’ It’s not about you, it’s about the team.  Learn as much as you can and communicate those skills to the people who need to achieve their own dreams. Inspire them by doing what you say! Your own action and results are a powerful inspiration.

Team mastermind

Some very important questions you should constantly ask yourself are ‘Why should people join me? When they have joined me, why should they stay on board?’ You increase the VALUE of people being in your team by giving them value for their time.  Identify what their needs are, improve your skills in that area of need, apply the knowledge you have learned and then teach them how to do what you know. Teach the people who will be attracted to you how the life you are living works. Communicate your knowledge and experience to your Mastermind group; help them realize their dreams and realizing your own dreams will follow.
