Success Demands that you Grow Up

Time To Grow Up For Success

The world is full of people who want success but are not willing to step up and grow up in order to realize that success. If you spend your life avoiding growing pains and choosing the easy way out, you will grow up in years and physical form, but not in wisdom.

Age is just a number. There are 18 year olds who are more mature in the area of achieving success than some 50 year olds that I have come across. What makes the difference? Those 18 year olds have reached success maturity and the 50 year olds have not.

  • Success maturity is seen through making firm decisions.

    Decide to get rich and do something about it without apologising to anyone. If you want to become mature and ready for success, quit playing games with yourself. Decide you are no longer going to remain average. Take the time to have that conversation with yourself. Have that good and honest pep talk and counselling session where you will ask yourself these important success questions.

    • Do I really want to play all-in for success or am I just trying to be successful? Successful people do. They do not try.
    • If I were hiring for the position to take me to the success that I envision, would I hire me? If you cannot hire yourself to take you to that ‘place of success’, then quit or IMPROVE.
    • Am I ready to take 100% responsibility for my results as opposed to making excuses, blaming circumstances and blaming others? Unless you own your results 100%, you are powerless.
  • Success maturity is seen through burning bridges.

    Burning bridges can be exemplified by you making the below emotional commitment:

    • You decide that even if you have not quit your job yet, you are going to treat the hours that you have committed to work for your fortune as an entrepreneur as if you had quit your job. You still show up for work. You carry out your duties with faithful commitment. Outside of working hours, you work on your business as if it was the only job you had and the boss would fire you if you slackened.

NOTE: The problem could be that this situation is too difficult to imagine because even at work right now you are not being your very best and yet you are getting paid every month. So, you take with you that same lackadaisical attitude from your job into your work as an entrepreneur. How you do one thing is how you do everything!!!

THIS is how you light fire on the bridge for Success:

Burn the bridge by deciding a date on which you plan to quit your job. On that date you will be earning, say three times your salary from your business after all expenses and clearing all your debt. Write the resignation email and schedule its emailing for that date. Keep the draft and set a reminder in your diary to click the ‘send’ button on that date. When the date arrives, you will face the triumphant you, or the loser you.

If you do not have a job, probably because you have been laid off or you are straight from college, you can still set yourself a deadline. Decide on the income level you want to be at by a specific date. Set a reward or consequence for not achieving your goal by that date. If not achieved you face the consequence. If achieved you enjoy the reward.

In both instances, you should ask another trusted person  or people to hold you accountable for your commitment. Let them know what the stakes are and meet with them on the day.

If you cannot make that emotional commitment, then you are not yet ready to earn a significant income in your entrepreneurial venture. You are still an amateur trying to play the professionals game. Step up or forget it!

  • Success maturity shows when you decide to make Excellence your standard.

    Excellence is performing at a level higher than the common. It is where you decide to produce only fine, brilliant, superior, distinct and quality results. There is no room for flacking when you choose excellence as the standard for all the work that you produce. If you are still willing to settle for less, you are not ready for the kind of greatness that you proclaim or imagine for yourself. No matter how much you talk, your actions will say who you are. Make the transition from mediocrity to excellence.


It is going to be tough, yet it is the only way through. Push through the physical, emotional and spiritual pain. There is no excellent thing that will just materialize without blood, sweat and tears. Success belongs only to those who commit to DEDICATION, DISCIPLINE, PESEVERANCE and PERSONAL INTEGRITY and execute all tasks with BRAVERY, COURAGE and RELENTLESNESS. Make the decision to become that person today.

Who Has Dominion Over You

ego busterThe first thing to do is obviously to define what dominion is. Dominion is to have control over, to domineer. It is a word that is found in the Bible because humans were given the right to have dominion. So we need to understand the kind of dominion that humans were given in order for it to be used properly.

Firstly let me make something clear from the onset. Humans were given dominion over animals and plants and not over other humans. Animals do not have the power to reason. They mainly operate using natural instinct. That is why humans who have the power to reason and rationalize were given the right to rule over the animals and make decisions on their behalf.

When it comes to humans however, no matter how old or young or what sex an individual is, no one has the right to domineer over the other. We can only reason with each other and none is compelled to accept the other person’s opinion.

To progress and meet your aspirations as an individual, you should never allow another person to have dominion over you. Only God should have dominion over you because He is all knowing and He created you and understands you more that you will even ever understand yourself.

With the above statement am I saying that other people cannot play a role in influencing your life for success. Definitely not. There is plenty of room for others to be a part of your success through their influence. Influence is different from dominion.

Influence shows you how success is achieved by the person being a good example of what you aspire to achieve. Dominion on the other hand dictates to you the path and demands that you walk in it. Humans being the imperfect creatures that they are do not have the prerogative to dictate anything to each other. They can only guide, give advice and lead by example as proof that their philosophy works.

Usually dictators want others to do what they prescribe while they themselves do not do or live by that prescription. Influencers (another name for leaders) live what they preach. Their credibility stems from that trait of saying what they do, and doing what they say.

So the question comes back again. Who are you allowing to have dominion over you? When you aspire to do things that you have never been done before or which most people have never done before such as becoming an entrepreneur who are you allowing to dictate to you what can or cannot be done.

There are three classes of dictators that I have met in my career as an entrepreneur.

1. The I Cannot Do It so Neither Can You Group
These people look at what you are getting started with, they look at themselves and declare to themselves that it is impossible to achieve success. Instead of keeping their opinions to themselves, they want you to buy their story. They will do all in their power to remind you at every turn that you are crazy and that you will fail. What drives them is their own fear and they want you to be just as fearful and quit what you have started.

2. The Do Not Disrupt the Status Quo Group
This group of dictators is very interesting. They are afraid that you are going to succeed and then expose them for what they are, fearful people (I reserved the use of the C word here ). By breaking away and becoming a successful entrepreneur, your success becomes a reprimand to them for not breaking out as well. In a pretext to protect you from yourself, they look up every failure case in entrepreneurship or whatever new venture you are embarking on that they can find in real life or from the internet and they will spread it before you as proof. The objective is to paralyze you with fear until you quit.

3. The Haters
These are people who just do not wish you any good. They spend most of their energy devising and carrying out PHD (Pull Him/Her Down) missions. They will secretly and openly plot your downfall. They thrive on making other people feel inferior through negative talk and gossip. They are just busy bodies who feel happy from popping other people’s balloons. They want the gloom that they spread to poison you into paralysis.

I felt my body tense up just writing about these people. I am sure you have met others who belong to other categories but the above three are the most common.

My advice to you is never allow the toxicity of negative talk and fear to have dominion over you. The last time I read my Good Book on how to make a living, it stated that we are to labor and do all our work. Nowhere did I see a prescription of what kind of work is to be done. The only admonition given in how we work is that there be no exploitation of man by man. Fairness and equity are to be the guiding principles that we live by.

It is an individual’s choice whether they earn their living working a job or being an entrepreneur. I am offended when a budding entrepreneur is told to stay where they are and do what has always been done.

Are there risks involved in entrepreneurship? Yes. Is it tough becoming a successful entrepreneur? Yes. But the bottom line is: they must leave you be. You should be free to go through the growth process of becoming a successful entrepreneur in order to become one.

So, since you clearly have the entrepreneurial bug (you would not be reading this if you did not), brace yourself up for the opposing current. Be upright and true in all your dealings. Help others along the way. Work with Godliness. Take good advice from your mentors and never, ever let anyone have dominion over you.

Long Term Success Steps In Network Marketing

Do you want to have long term success and build a sustainable network marketing business? Pay attention to this post.

Many network marketers are frustrated by short-term results. They start of showing the opportunity fast, get people to sign up and then realize they are in a rut. Team members start falling out as fast if not faster than the rate at which they are coming in.

They work hard but the results just do not come. They make a little money but it is not enough to feed the financial independence dream that they started off with.

There are three steps that you need to master in order to build long term success and sustainability into your business.

1. Select A Skill To Learn and Teach

For many new network marketers, the focus of their early activities is on sharing the opportunity. There is nothing wrong with that but many mess it up because of poor posture. They may score some successes and get people joining the opportunity and then discover that they do not have the skill of creating duplication for example and the people fall out.

Long term success is assured if as you share the opportunity you also learn a skill that will bring sustainability to your business. Look for a skill set to learn and master that matches your personality. For example you could learn blogging and SEO, social media marketing, PPC etc.

Mastering such a skill will ensure that you continue to have new people to talk to about your business beyond you family and current friends. You can then teach your team members how to do the same. That is what will ensure long term success for your business.

2. Work On Your Mindset

Think Outside The boxMy opinion is that skill contributes 10% and mindset contributes 90% to both your short term and long term success in network marketing. Your attitude towards your business is a reflection of your mindset.

New network marketers come in from a totally different paradigm. It requires a mindset shift on their part for them to start thinking like an entrepreneur. For example the two most important paradigm shifts that they will need to make are:

Attitude to making lots of money – As an employee you are accustomed to an income with a ceiling. In network marketing your dreams are your limiting factor. If you struggle with grasping that, you might not take off at all. Your mind will just refuse to accept the possibility of the figures you see and become paralyzed into inaction.
Attitude to Long Term Rewards – Again as an employee, you work for two weeks or a month and get paid. Your income is secure and it is directly related to the amount of time you put in. As a new entrepreneur, you will put in a lot of time and effort and the result CAN take time to show. Without a mindset conditioned for long term rewards, you will not last.

3. Build Relationships

Relationships countDo not see dollar signs on the face of each person that you meet. Take the time to know them. Do not rush to pitch your opportunity. Steady is the name of the game for long term success.

Whether you meet an individual face to face or you meet them online, they want to know that you care about them before they know what you care about. Converse with people. Listen carefully and ask relevant questions about them. Pick up their contact information and let them know you will be in touch about some helpful information.

If you meet online, share value content with them. At the right time take your relationship offline and call them. Never use the internet as a way of hiding from or avoiding talking to people. Taking things offline builds their trust and confidence in you.

Whether you meet offline or online, create the rapport and know when to pitch your opportunity. People buy from people they know and trust.

Motivation Can Be Created For Yourself and Others

Are you lacking motivation, feeling discouraged and despondent as to whether you will or can ever be successful in life and in your business?motivation

You need to stay motivated.

Motivation is the fuel that you need to stay on course and do what you need to do to achieve your goals; and you need it daily.

Here are a few quotes to motivate you:

So how do you stay motivated? You must decide to stay motivated. It is a choice you make that no one else can do. Actually the best motivation is self motivation because when it comes from within, no one can take it away.

I am going to share with you a few help points on how you can keep yourself motivated. In the process you will find that you are motivating others too.

Take Action Consistently
Starting to do something new is always nerve wrecking. The only way to deal with the nerves is to feel afraid and do it anyway, not once, not twice but until you know how to do it well. Set the tempo for action and keep at it. The more you do an activity, the better you become. So keep on doing. You levels of confidence will rise to motivate you.

VisionHave A Vision and Set Goals To Achieve It
My favourite book says “My people perish for lack of vision”. Where there is no vision, there is no reason to live. Do you know what you want. Who do you want to be. How do you want to be known. What do you want to have. Create a vision board that you look at every day that reminds you what you want to become.

In case the vision intimidates you because it is too big, break t down into bite size goals and steps that you must take every day. Give yourself a reason to wake up everyday.

Do results Driven Activities
Do not do what I call treadmill activities. You can be busy all the time but achieving nothing. Your vision and your goals will define what your results ought to be and if what you are doing is not getting you where you want to go you will exhaust yourself and kill the motivation. Focus on results driven activities.

Create a Motivation Circle
Build relationships with other like-minded individuals so that you can do things together and keep each other motivated. Meet often or talk on the phone often. Have them to rekindle your fire when you are down or to kick your butt when you are slacking. Keep each other accountable and do not buy each other’s excuses. Your motivation circle will be even more fun and exciting if it is made up of people on your team. Get together and do business growth activities together. Celebrate each others’ victories and successes.

Help Others To Succeed
People who help others to achieve their goals often find the motivation to attain their own goals too. Have an open door policy of letting people seek you out if in need of help. as you show them what to do to achieve success you become a servant leader because the best way to show people what to do is doing it yourself. There is nothing like people looking up to you to get you to stand up and work.

Constantly Reprogram Yourselfprogramming
Have you ever noticed how a computer gets to ‘hang’. I am not sure what happens in the hardware but you will be in the middle of a task and the processing thingy on your screen keeps spinning and spinning until you have to end task and refresh. Our minds and bodies can get into that tail spin too and you will need occasional refreshing. How do you reprogram? Go away somewhere alone or with your mastermind group and chill. Take time to reflect, reorganize and regroup. Remember to have fun while you are at it and break the serious and monotonous business mode.

The Five Steps to Success as a Network Marketer

It is natural to want to succeed at everything that you start to do. Now that you are a network marketer, you want to win at it I am sure. Not everyone who does this business will succeed, but anyone who puts their mind to it and follows the below five steps can succeed.

  1. Keep Your Job & Manage Your Actions

I have heard many a network marketer bemoan that their day jobs are robbing them of time to grow their home businesses faster. I will caution you to hold your horses in that line of thinking. If you cannot make your home business work and start paying you well on a part-time basis, you are probably not going to make it work even if you became full time.

You see success as a network marketer is not dependent on the abundance of time. It does depend on how effectively and efficiently you make use of the time available doing the money making activities in your business. Focus on discipline and managing your after-work activities to build an income that equals or surpasses what you are making in your job before you quit.

  1. Take the Lead – Call Your Sponsor

You can only get into network marketing through word of mouth information from someone who shares the opportunity with you. That person is called your sponsor or upline. Show your hunger for success by not waiting for them to call you to find out what kind of help you need. Take the initiative and call them and let them know from the onset that you are willing to learn what you can from them. Ask them for names of their sponsors several levels up so that if you do not get the kind of support that you need from your direct sponsor, you can get it from others in the organisation.

The way that this industry is structured is such that your sponsor benefits from supporting you. Sponsors are looking for members who are willing to be mentored to success. Be the one.

Beware of the dependency syndrome and the blame game. With or without a supportive sponsor or helpful uplines, your success in the business is your responsibility. Things will be harder without the support but success is still possible.

  1. Be Coachable and Teachable

A good network marketing company and a good team leader will direct you to a business system to work with to grow your business. Once you have pronounced yourself a student of your sponsor on how to use the system successfully, do what they tell you to do. Do not re-invent the wheel. All the successful people that I know in this industry look for a mentor who has used the company system and has had the kind of success they want. Identify that person in your company and do as you are told and shown. Rebellion here or being a smart aleck will lead to unnecessary frustration on your part.

  1. Be The Leader That You Want

Strike a balance between adding new team members and mentoring your team. Do not breed orphans in your team who end up being just a number. Create the time to induct your new team members and let them know you are available to lead them by example in what to do to be successful. Without babysitting and molly coddling the reps on your team, train them on how to duplicate what you do daily to grow your business. Spend at least the first 30days with your new rep training them, supporting and holding their hand until they are confident to be on their own and do the same for their team. Build long term relationships with your team and success is certain.

  1. Operate a Business not a Hobby

Never forget that you are running a real business. The income that you will make will be subject to the tax laws of your country of operation. You will also be entitled to the same tax write-offs that other businesses have. Benefits come with responsibilities. Take the time to keep accurate business records. Engage someone to do your books on a regular basis. Consult those in the know about home business accounting.

I find that once you start your network marketing business with this mindset and approach, you are going to treat it as a real business with regards to the commitment and effort you will put in learning the required skills and taking the necessary action for success.
