The Five Steps to Success as a Network Marketer

It is natural to want to succeed at everything that you start to do. Now that you are a network marketer, you want to win at it I am sure. Not everyone who does this business will succeed, but anyone who puts their mind to it and follows the below five steps can succeed.

  1. Keep Your Job & Manage Your Actions

I have heard many a network marketer bemoan that their day jobs are robbing them of time to grow their home businesses faster. I will caution you to hold your horses in that line of thinking. If you cannot make your home business work and start paying you well on a part-time basis, you are probably not going to make it work even if you became full time.

You see success as a network marketer is not dependent on the abundance of time. It does depend on how effectively and efficiently you make use of the time available doing the money making activities in your business. Focus on discipline and managing your after-work activities to build an income that equals or surpasses what you are making in your job before you quit.

  1. Take the Lead – Call Your Sponsor

You can only get into network marketing through word of mouth information from someone who shares the opportunity with you. That person is called your sponsor or upline. Show your hunger for success by not waiting for them to call you to find out what kind of help you need. Take the initiative and call them and let them know from the onset that you are willing to learn what you can from them. Ask them for names of their sponsors several levels up so that if you do not get the kind of support that you need from your direct sponsor, you can get it from others in the organisation.

The way that this industry is structured is such that your sponsor benefits from supporting you. Sponsors are looking for members who are willing to be mentored to success. Be the one.

Beware of the dependency syndrome and the blame game. With or without a supportive sponsor or helpful uplines, your success in the business is your responsibility. Things will be harder without the support but success is still possible.

  1. Be Coachable and Teachable

A good network marketing company and a good team leader will direct you to a business system to work with to grow your business. Once you have pronounced yourself a student of your sponsor on how to use the system successfully, do what they tell you to do. Do not re-invent the wheel. All the successful people that I know in this industry look for a mentor who has used the company system and has had the kind of success they want. Identify that person in your company and do as you are told and shown. Rebellion here or being a smart aleck will lead to unnecessary frustration on your part.

  1. Be The Leader That You Want

Strike a balance between adding new team members and mentoring your team. Do not breed orphans in your team who end up being just a number. Create the time to induct your new team members and let them know you are available to lead them by example in what to do to be successful. Without babysitting and molly coddling the reps on your team, train them on how to duplicate what you do daily to grow your business. Spend at least the first 30days with your new rep training them, supporting and holding their hand until they are confident to be on their own and do the same for their team. Build long term relationships with your team and success is certain.

  1. Operate a Business not a Hobby

Never forget that you are running a real business. The income that you will make will be subject to the tax laws of your country of operation. You will also be entitled to the same tax write-offs that other businesses have. Benefits come with responsibilities. Take the time to keep accurate business records. Engage someone to do your books on a regular basis. Consult those in the know about home business accounting.

I find that once you start your network marketing business with this mindset and approach, you are going to treat it as a real business with regards to the commitment and effort you will put in learning the required skills and taking the necessary action for success.

What God Has To Say About Your Success In 2015

Does God Care 12015 is promising to be a fabulous year for you and me because we have taken the time to set out a road map that we are going to follow to achieve our goals and make a success of our plans.

If you have not crafted your road map for 2015, then visit this article and take the time to set out your personal life strategic plan.

But whether or not you already have a plan in place, did you know that God wants you to succeed. He has a plan for your success as stated in Jeremiah 29 v 11. In fact He has a lot to say about your success.

God wants you to succeed and He has some specific instructions for you on HOW you can attain success. I am going to share with you just four of the points that He tells you to take note of as part of your success plan.

  1. Commit All Your Works to God

“Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established” Proverbs 16:3 (KJV). Whatever plans you have for 2015, God is interested in them. Do you want to start a business, create more income, be spiritually stronger, lose weight, spend more time with your family, restore broken relationships, God says tell Me all about it and seek My counsel on a daily basis and all of your plans shall be established. So beyond making the plans and writing them down, pray about them. Study the Bible daily for guidance and you will have extra ordinary success in 2015.

  1. Seek Wise Human Counsel

Do not attempt to go it alone. Proverbs 15:22 (KJV) says “Without counsel purposes are disappointed; but in the multitude of counsellors, they are established.” Find people who have attained the goals that you are aspiring for, build relationships with them and sound your ideas off them. If you are having trouble finding such wise God-fearing people, ask God to bring them into your life. Ask and it shall be given unto you (Matthew 7:7).

How do you know they are wise? They are honest and uphold the same values as yourself. They are not afraid to be upfront with you. They are willing to help and are not jealous of your success.

  1. Work Diligently

Diligent work is meticulously, conscientiously, industriously and thoroughly done, producing a high quality product. Proverbs 21:5 “The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness, but of every one that is hasty only to want”. Work that is done hastily is done without due care and the quality is substandard. Work that is done diligently will attract more customers and more profit. At the market place, be known for your diligence and your plans will fall into place.

  1. Take a Weekly Break

God designed our bodies to benefit from both labour and rest. That is why at the beginning of life on earth He established a seven-day weekly work cycle. Respecting that weekly cycle will not only benefit you physically but it will regenerate you spiritually and emotionally and will do wonders for your family relationships. Exodus 20:8-11 expounds on both the physical and spiritual significance of observing that weekly rest. Note that rest comes after work, so use the six days of the week efficiently and effectively and by the time you get to the seventh day, you will be needing the rest.

So confidently step out into 2015 knowing that you have a Supreme Being on your side to make sure that your plans for the year will succeed.

Target Setting And Action Taking For A Fabulous 2015

On TargetSo like I shared with you in yesterday’s post, I spent the last week of December 2014 target setting and planning for the coming year, 2015. I laid out a road map of the goals that I want to achieve and the actions that I must take in order to achieve them.

Today I will share with you the how of that planning and execution process. You probably have heard these six principles of goal setting, have effectively applied them at work but not in your life.

It is time that you applied them with the same intensity in your life. Rather than just make resolutions for the year that you will not keep, it is time you took time to map out a strategic plan for your life and implemented it.

So if you have planned for the office and have not yet planned for YOURSELF, use the week end to develop your personal 2015 strategic plan.

These are the six steps that you MUST follow in order to develop a life strategy that will take you from where you are to where you know you deserve to be. Rather than just wish for success, if you do ALL six of these steps, you will finally get to realize the success.

Step 1: Be Specific

For example do not say, I want to make more money in 2015. Specify a clear target figure. Based on your financial projections, name a figure that you are aiming to earn. Saying I must make an extra $5,000/month is more specific. It is a quantifiable target or goal. So, no general statements but specific measurable targets to reach.

Step 2: State a Time Frame To Achieve the Target By

Specifying a date by which to achieve the set goal will give you urgency to get down to doing what is required. If there is no time line, the tendency is to just drift and hope for the best. In our income target example, saying I want to make an extra $5,000/month by 30 April 2015 will get you off your bottom to do the work as time waits for nobody.

Step 3: Write Your Target Down

Targets kept in the head are rarely met. Writing your target down makes it important. Write it where you can view it daily. Take advantage of technology. Write your goals on index cards and then take a picture of each and keep them in a 2015 Goals Folder in your smart phone or tablet. At specific times of the day, read your goals out loud. What you confess with your mouth comes to pass and it keeps it at the front of your mind. Schedule a weekly or fortnightly review to check how on or off track you are and make the necessary adjustments.

Step 4: Devise A Plan of Action

Achievement is a result of actually doing a set of activities leading towards your goal. Talk to anyone and they have big dreams. Why have they not attained them? Because they are not prepared to do what it takes. To come up with an effective Action plan ask yourself:

  • Is what I am currently doing going to get me to my goal?
  • Do I need to find and learn a new way of doing things to reach my goal? (Back to our income example: If your current income generating activities cannot bring in an additional $5,000 by 30 April 2015, then you need to look for an additional income stream activity to do, learn the skills associated with it and get started. This could take the form of a side business or new investment ventures)
  • What specific actions must I take to reach my goal? Figure out the HOW and do it.

Step 5: Decide the Price You are Willing To Pay

Something for something, nothing for nothing is what it boils down to. Good things do not come easy. There is a price to be paid. Are you willing to pay the price to get what you want, or even need. You WILL have to give up certain habits and adopt new ones to reach your goal. You may have to give up watching TV and/or sports, give up drinking, get out of bed earlier and go to sleep later. Whatever you need to do, only you can figure it out. Once figured out, DECIDE to do it!!

Step 6: Think About Your Goal Daily

Keep your goal before you every day. It is the fuel you need for the engine of action to keep high energy. Having your goal written in the present can help make it real for you. For our example. Rather than writing it down the traditional way in which we stated it earlier do this: I am able to buy a new car because I am earning an extra $5,000/month by 30 April 2015. This way of writing your goal pumps adrenalin into your system when you read it. Also more than just the goal, it marries it to the outcome that attaining it will result in.

In Conclusion

The above six steps are mandatory. Skip one of them and you are sentencing yourself to not meeting your targets and never realizing your dreams for yet another year.

  • Is it going to take time to see results? YES it is. But time will move anyway whether or not you take action. Might as well spend it moving towards your goal.
  • Is it going to be easy? NO! You will face challenges. You just have to have enough stubborn resolve to push through the challenges.
  • Is it going to be worth it? YES, YES, YES. Close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting behind the wheel in your new car, smell the new leather, and your kids excitedly asking where you are taking them for ice cream or pizza. Is that scene worth it? Then get off your butt and resolutely take action to make it a reality.

Keep focused, persistent and determined. Great things are possible to the believing action taker.

Have a fabulous 2015!

Blessings, Gratitude, Appreciating God, Family, Friends on 2015 Day 1

Gratitude Fruit Basket2I cannot list all the blessings I received in 2014, they are too numerous to count.

As I write this post, I am watching the daylight of Day 1 in 2015 melt out the darkness from the last night of 2014 through my window. My youngest son, who still sleeps with mom at 7, is lying on the sofa next to me because he does not like sleeping alone. He was sleeping alone because I had to sit up all night for two reasons:

Prayer, Curfew and Planning

(i) To wait up for two of his older brothers (17 and 19) who had gone for a New Years’ eve party (mom must intermittently send prayers of protection to heaven, make sure they keep to curfew time and come home sober) and

(ii) To put the final touches on my 2015 Success Blue Print (Thought I’d be done by the time the boys got home at 1:00am. Well….I continued for another four hours!!) That’s how important it was to finish that document. I believe I am getting better at this with each year that I do it.

Appreciation and Gratitude

The purpose of today’s post is to appreciate and express my gratitude to God for creating opportunities for me to meet with certain individuals who have unselfishly shared their knowledge and expertise with me directly and indirectly in the profession of network marketing and using the internet for business.

In my quest for knowledge and understanding, God placed these individuals in my path. Some I have met in person and have had the privilege to sit at their feet and hear their voices. Others I have not met personally but their written word and spoken words via their blog posts, audios and videos have become a familiar part of my life.

Some I listen to daily, others weekly or monthly and others occasionally. More than just being routine, the most exciting part for me has been applying what I learn and sharing the information with my business team as well as with those on my mailing lists and social media networks. I pray that my attempts to package the information based on my experiences has been and will be of use to the readers and followers of this blog.

Success Does Leave Clues

I cannot mention everyone here, but I would like to make particular mention of Ray Higdon and his wife Jessica, Matt Morris, Johnny Wimbrey, Eric Worre, Mary Ellen Tribby and Dani Johnson. I have listened to and read their online training for the last three or so years. They have so become a part of my life that my seven year old knows them by name and can identify their faces.

I have personally met Matt Morris and Johnny Wimbrey at live training events and I look forward to meeting two of those I have no yet met this year, with diligent planning, hard work and God’s blessings.

I appreciate these individuals whose teaching I have been following, and will continue to follow for me to grow into the business person that I am today and will become.

I raise my glass to them for their generosity and unselfishness to spend themselves for others. As the saying goes “success leaves clues” and blessed is the man or woman who recognizes the people who have or are what they aspire to be and is humble enough to learn from them.

Amazing Team Work!

I also toast the local leaders in my network marketing company who are based in Harare and Johannesburg. I thank them for leading by example. Actions do speak louder than words.

I raise my glass to the team that God blessed me with in my network marketing business. It is part of the beauty of our industry that by introducing a few of my friends to an amazing concept, I now have a family of several hundred, spread out in nine different countries. I look forward to the day I am going to meet each of you face to face.

Finally I appreciate my family: my four sons Jabulani, Bongani, Anele and Sibusiso (my once Little Blessings), my mom (a pillar of strength) and my brother Dingi and his wife Viola (my American ATMs when the need arose) and God Almighty (without whom I would not exist).

True Blessings Defined

For everyone, I pray for blessings in 2015. Blessings are not synonymous with a smooth, problem free life.

Blessings are going through life knowing that through the challenges, there is an all-knowing, all-powerful God who cares and  who will iron out what is beyond my strength and understanding.

Blessings are also knowing that through the challenges you have a cloud of friends and family who will surround you and support you and do all that they can to prop you up physically and in spirit.

Blessings are having the inner strength to keep going towards the mark that you desire for yourself and your loved ones without being intimidated by your circumstances or the opinions of others.

To you reading this article, may blessings pursue you and overtake you into 2015 (Deuteronomy 28: 1-14)

Tomorrow I will share with you the formula that I use to set my success blue print of the year ahead. Use it to plan for 2015. There is still time to plan and pray over your road map for this new year.

What Next, Now that You Own a Network Marketing Home Business?

How To WinAfter two university degrees and nearly three decades in the corporate world in two different countries, I can say with confidence that network marketing is the business of the 21st Century.

Why then do so many people fail to realize the lucrative returns promised by this industry?

In this article I want to help you understand the correct mindset to have for you to crush it and get results in this industry. If after reading this article, your mental systems tell you that you do not want to shift into the mindset gear that I recommend then pack your bags and find another business model because this is the wrong industry for you.

Network marketing is not for everyone. It is for those who understand the following and build the mental fortitude to prevail:

1. Be Prepared To Temporarily Lose Credibility

Many people that you know are going to think that you have lost you faculties when they hear that you are now doing ‘one of those things’.

If you were unemployed, this will manifest as a contemptuous attitude of saying “Oh well, he/she had nothing to do anyway. At least now they have found something to do.”

If you were already a professional with a ‘good’ job, the attitude will be that of incredulous talk and whispers behind your back that ‘honestly, how can a respected professional like him/her even think of doing this thing’. Those who have the guts to tell you to your face will set out to embarrass and belittle you for your decision.

In all instances, the winning mindset to have is: If you are not paying my bills, get lost! No one has any business judging what means you choose to use to ensure your family’s welfare. To those that matter to you, say it on the inside and demonstrate it with your commitment. To those you do not mind sending to hell, tell them to their faces.

2. Network Marketing Is As a Business, Not a Lottery

Lotto Ball NumbersMany people who see a network marketing opportunity presentation see dollar signs flying in the air like you see in those lottery ads on TV and they join the business.

In their minds, they picture the 4-6 people whom they are certain will love this enough to jump in immediately and hopefully start working to make them rich. When they show these 4-6 and all of them say NO, they are defeated and tell themselves that they showed the entire world the opportunity and no one liked it so, network marketing does not work, forgetting about the 7.5 billion others they have not yet shown.

If the 4-6 join the business for whatever reason, the person throws a party and waits to see what those people will do to make him/her rich. Inevitably these people wither away and die out of the business together with our friend’s dream until he/she too quits.

Sometimes the lottery ticket mindset says, let me give it a try for X months. If I see no good results I will quit.

The winning mindset to have: Decide that the network marketing business that you have started is a real business and that you will work your butt off to make it a success. You will not depend on popular opinion to validate your belief in this venture. Your success is entirely up to you and you are going to learn all that there is to learn to make your business work. Do not tolerate ANYONE who makes fun of your business. If it means separating yourself from their company for a season for you to succeed then be prepared to do so. You are IN business. You are NOT playing games of chance.

3. Network Marketing Is Not Perfect, It Is A Better Way

In the job environment, when people become dissatisfied with their current employer for whatever reason they will quit. What it means is that there is no perfect employer. In fact some employers are outright crooks. With all of that in the job sector, I am yet to hear a person committed to the job system say that all jobs are a scam. They keep looking for yet another opportunity to build someone else’s dream and hope that the next employer is better than the last.

This is also true with the network marketing industry. There are companies that are out for nothing but ripping off the unsuspecting individual and vanish as quickly as they appeared.  There are also good network marketing companies that are founded on an honest desire to help people change their wealth destinies. Some are relatively young and others have been around for decades. It is up to you to establish that through proven forms of research.

The winning mindset to have: Compared to a job, in network marketing, the residual income levels that you can earn are determined by you and you alone. You determine your value and the pace at which you arrive at the ideal lifestyle that you have determined for yourself. You will not let a few bad apples in the industry deny you the opportunity to design  your own life. You will do/I have done your due diligence (due diligence does not include searching for the company name on Google and believing ALL that you see. The internet is full of garbage as well as good stuff I can assure you!) to establish the integrity of the company that you are joining/have joined.

Your success in any reputable network marketing company is your responsibility. Help is available and all you have to do is ask/seek for it.
